Lucy & Joel - Festival Marquee Wedding - Bristol

Why did you choose Yeti?

We loved you at Dan and Leonie's wedding and love your work! I regularly get lost on your Instagram watching different videos. What you do is unique to anything else we’ve seen and we love it.

You guys…what do you do?…how do you spend your days?

So work wise i’m a Police officer. Joel works in finance for an engineering company but is also a trustee and ‘finance person’ for a charity so spends a lot of his spare time on this. (Charity is purple field productions) Together we love a good party/ celebration. We love nice food and wine. Eating out etc. The most important thing to both of us is our family and friends, spending time with people and creating memories. We both love live music, festivals etc. Joel is a huge pitbull fan, Timber being his favourite song. My favourite thing is Cows! The farmer next door has arranged for them to be in the field so we can see them/ they can feature in our day. I grew up practically on a farm as my dads family were dairy farmers. Because of both of our jobs we often struggle to get time together so holidays and travel is really important to us. That’s when we get quality ‘us time’. We have done a few back packing trips including to Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Cambodia. We love a city break or a visit to Joel’s parents who live in Calahonda, Costa del Sol, Spain. Group holidays with our friends when we can as they are lots of fun!

The proposal. Tell me everything. (All the gushy details!)

So it was July 2020 - peak Covid! Joels 30th birthday weekend where of course we’d planned a party in line with the restrictions! We were able to have a gathering of 30 outdoors so it was close family and friends. To be honest I thought he would never ask so had kind of given up on the idea of getting married! I arrived at my parents house (where our wedding is) earlier to decorate the garden and prepare. Joel arrived later as unfortunately due to covid the promise ring he’d originally choosen hadn’t arrived! So he had to rush into town to sort one. My best friend was rushing me to get ready which at the time I thought was annoying. Before everyone arrived we had some champagne to toast the occasion with close family and a few friends. Joel made a speech during which he got down on one knee and proposed! Of course I said yes and here we are. Then all our friends arrived to celebrate with us. I had absolutely no idea and was oblivious to what was going on around me. Our friend filmed the proposal on my GoPro which was an awesome touch. My sister lives in Australia so wasn’t able to make it to the engagement but she was there on FaceTime which I later found out. We saved the wedding until this year so she could be back with us. A year later we then went ring shopping together to Hatton Garden where I choose my engagement ring and we had a romantic picnic with champagne in the park to celebrate. The delay was mainly covid related!

Wedding location…..Why this place above any where else?

Tytherington Church is in the village that I grew up in. My grandparents and parents were married there. (Grandparents are buried there) My Gramps carried the British legion standard for many years and it is hanging within the church at the back right. I have always dreamt of getting married in the church. We got engaged in Tytherington at my parents house so it’s a very special place for us. The venue itself is a family owned field. We want to create a festival style event which is personalised to us. We love that we can party into the early hours with no curfew. We are planning a pre event on the Friday evening with bridal party and bacon rolls for the Sunday morning as lots of guests are camping. You are of course very welcome to join in your van!

What experience do you want to give your guests?

We want everyone to have lots of fun and to enjoy themselves. Festival style event but with a hint of ‘wedding class’. (Hope that makes sense!) We have live music during the welcome drinks, an 8 piece band during the evening followed by a silent disco so lots of music planned.

What experience do you want to give your guests?

A relaxed and fun filled day. This will be many peoples first occasion since the pandemic began, so we really want people to enjoy themselves and be together.
